Blair Upper Cervical Care
Blair Upper Cervical Care is one of the most precise, gentle, and underutilized techniques in chiropractic. Dr. Whitney is one of a small number of providers in the country trained to do it right.
Book Your ExamWhat Blair Upper Cervical Care is
The upper cervical spine refers to the top two vertebrae in your neck, the atlas (C1) and the axis (C2). These two bones sit at the base of your skull and surround the brainstem, which is the communication highway between your brain and the rest of your body. When they're in their ideal position, that communication flows freely. When they're not, the effects can show up in ways that seem completely unrelated to your neck.
Headaches that won't quit. Chronic neck tension. Fatigue that doesn't make sense. Numbness or tingling in the arms. Dizziness. Even digestive and immune system irregularities. The upper cervical spine is connected to more of your body's function than most people, and most providers, ever consider.
Blair Upper Cervical Care is a specific technique developed to assess and correct misalignments in exactly this region. What makes it different from standard chiropractic is the level of precision involved. Before any adjustment is made, Dr. Whitney takes a CBCT scan, a 3D image of the cervical spine, to understand the exact angle, direction, and degree of misalignment unique to your anatomy. No two spines are the same, and the Blair technique is built around that reality.
What makes it different
This is usually the part that surprises people, especially those who've had traditional chiropractic adjustments before and aren't sure they want to do that again.
Blair Upper Cervical adjustments don't involve any rotation or manipulation of the neck. There's no twisting, no audible pop, and no force beyond what's necessary to make a precise, specific correction. The adjustment itself is gentle enough that most Practice Members are surprised by how little they feel in the moment and how much they notice in the hours and days that follow.
Because every adjustment is guided by 3D imaging specific to your anatomy, Dr. Whitney isn't using a general technique and hoping it applies to you. She's working from a precise map of your spine and correcting exactly what needs to be corrected, nothing more. After the adjustment, Practice Members rest for a short period to allow the nervous system to settle, which is a standard and important part of the Blair protocol.
Why it's rare
Blair Upper Cervical Care requires advanced training, specialized imaging equipment, and a commitment to a technique that takes longer to learn and longer to perform than a standard adjustment. It's not the fastest approach and it's not the most common one. There are a relatively small number of verified Blair practitioners in the country, and Dr. Whitney is among them.
That's worth knowing, not because it's a marketing point, but because it's the reason Practice Members travel from outside San Clemente to be seen here. If you've been to other chiropractors and haven't gotten the results you were hoping for, the upper cervical spine is often the missing piece of the picture.
Who benefits most
You don't need to be in severe pain to benefit from upper cervical chiropractic care. Some of Soul Align's most committed Practice Members came in with minimal symptoms and stayed because of what the imaging revealed and what consistent care made possible.
What to expect at your first visit
Your first visit as a new Practice Member includes a full consultation, a neurological and orthopedic exam, postural analysis, full spine X-rays, and a CBCT scan of your upper cervical spine. Dr. Whitney uses all of that information to build a complete picture of your spinal health before making any recommendations. Your report of findings happens on Day 2, ideally the next business day, where she walks you through everything she found and what she recommends.
If Blair Upper Cervical Care is appropriate for you, it will be part of that conversation. Nothing is assumed and nothing is rushed.
A CBCT scan gives us a level of detail that standard X-rays simply can't. If you've been searching for answers and haven't found them yet, this is worth your time.
